Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

Do we know who's getting cut?

Probably a lot of equipment engineers?
Should we expect process engineers, managers, etc... to get cut too?

An 'IC', or 'Individual Contributor' is someone who has no people directly under them (does not supervise or manage people).

What does " 98% or more of the people cut will be individual contributions" mean? Like people leaving voluntarily

I'd be supprised to see many Managers get cut. From what I have seen in the past 20+ years, the EVPs get the mandate to cut x% so they tell the VP to cut x% and the the Directors tell the Manger to cut x% all the way down to the M1. 98% or more of the people cut will be individual contributions. That will likely include all departments. If a manager is cut it will be because their project and team got cut or they already have a preformance problem.
