I've lost count, but the last time I checked I was above 300 applications, which still feels surreal to say out loud. I’m applying to roles I’m genuinely qualified for, the kind where my background, skills, and experience should line up, yet the response has mostly been silence. To say this makes potential layoffs scarier would be an understatement.

Don't bother applying to Solventum, they auto-reject 3Mers.
No. When I was laid off from 3M a few years back, I got a job with people I knew in my field. A former coworker alerted me to the position. My new company uses a few trusted recruiters as well as ads. I have personally recommended two people for jobs within the company.
Yes, I would say that it's important to have a good LinkedIn profile (not necessarily a bunch of posts), but don't discount networking.
All the advice here about networking and polishing your resume isn't a bad idea, but it's also out-of-touch relevant boomer advice for an economy that hasn't existed in over a decade.
The jobs market is impossible right now. Every CEO out there is sitting there scared, with no ideas, so they're just copying the next guy and quietly laying off people while loudly bragging about how great the stock price is.
Bill Brown is no exception.
Hug your job, do the bare minimum to keep it, and leave when things get better.
Turn to crime.
Actually, it's about networking. Get attend events in your field. Get in contact with your 3Mer friends who are already gone. Get recommendations for recruiters -- not the scammy LI ones that want to sell you resume services or your personal info. There's a lot of "who you know" out there.
Spend $200-$400 and have an expert edit your resume. If you want to save the money, dial up copilot, claude.ai, and chatgpt. Drop your resume into each, without name/address, asking for resume edits, suggestions, and style input.
You should have received a few inquires. Its about marketing yourself and what you have in resume isn't working. After a major rewrite, you'll get interviews.
Show off in Linked in, get endorsements, participate in discussions there to be known…
