Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Slackers

One frustrating thing about Cisco is realizing the slacker sittng next to you is safer than you as a high performer…. Slackers are annoying… but they are harmless. They do not ask many questions…they do not challenge decisions, and they usually do not expose problems. They just coast along, do what they are told… and stay out of the way.

High performers do the opposite…They push& question things, and try to move fast or fix broken processes. That creates pressure, and pressure exposes where systems or decisions are not working well. The irony is slackers frustrate high performers, but high performers can make leaders uncomfortable because they reveal where the system is broken.

Another flightless monkey who doesn't understand that slackers didn't write so many bugs that Cisco had to spend $3 trying to fix each $1 of "development."

You have to be efficient buddy! I give 75% into Cisco work and 25% into growing my only fans. Eventually it will shift to 75% only fans once I get enough followers but like anything else it’s a work in progress.

You’re just a number to Cisco, so make sure you pursue bigger and better things.

I have ben working with this f...g high performers, super heros for a while
They open their chest and ask for all the work to come to them and all the resources to be under their control and allocated to them only. They want to get every important training and to be involved in all the decisions. Their are always right and they never admit they make mistakes.
Narcissist personalities, with tunnel vision.
They become a bottle neck and then think others are lazy
They fail to observe that the more they take on the lower is their income/work ratio.
They think that the slacker that sits next to them does nothing but to browse internet
In reality the slackers could, if interested, learn more while doing enough to keep their job.

and thats how you get promoted to VP at Csco , dont upset anyone , show up on video , agree with all the stupidity you hear, say yes to your boss and dont do anything anyway. the slacker you act, the higher you ascend, at least in CX, would say that in sales we actually have to do stuff, except on fridays when we golf , I mean do training.

I’m not slacking, I’m just emulating what my leadership does every week. 😂

A lot of bad employees think they are high performers because they see themselves the way you describe. More often than not, the perception and reality are very different.

That "slacker" may be having reasonable discussions with leaders in appropriate settings about work issues, not worrying about getting their name in the paper.

The "slacker" understands Cisco. The "high performer" doesn't.
