I am really worried about layoffs here - is anyone else worried that people are too focused on staying employed rather than doing good work? I am seeing a growing amount of toxicity (even more than usual), but maybe it's just my team.

Motivation for employees in a pro-profit organisation is a fairly tale from management books.
If you want to be motivated by work start your own thing or join non-profit. Otherwise just su-k it up and do the needful to keep yourself aflot.
