The below HR person's comment is very true. There was an announcement today that we will lose one of 2 VPs in the department at the end of the week.

Revenue is collapsing rapidly. Sales to China are low and US phone sales in 4Q shrank more than expected. Layoffs are coming throughout the tech industry. Good luck.

Yes, I just heard from a co-worker that 1 if not 2 more cuts are coming early this year. We are fat but can be worrisome. I just lost 2 co-workers in Dec 2022.

Too many useless Senior Directors, VPs, and SVPs who only delegate and report.
Not enough technical contributors who does actual work that matters.

Sadly true, I work for HR, we got lists reviewed every week, ultimately is a VP decision, and not related to performance. If you see VPs on the list is because they try to hard push back for any impact to their teams. Good luck everyone. Next date is mid-January for fiscal year purposes.

They hired more to create more useless VPs and SVPs. HC is needed to justify the promo to VPs and above. Too much internal problems beyond it.
