Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Patent your idea

If you came up with a great idea, get in touch with the Intellectual Property department.
Not only could you get a share of any royalties, your name is on the patent - proving you innovated.

Maybe someone at Dell will forget about you - but other employers will see what you can do.

I offered an idea to be patented and the IP team did not see the value so it was rejected. The patent is pending. I am holding on to the email from the IP people and a screen print that said it was rejected.
I have a feeling if i get the patent I may have to use it court.

You don’t get royalties. If you get 5 in a year you get a glass trophy and then they get bigger from there. BTW much like everything else after awhile nobody cares.

Mine exists and has for 10yrs. No royalties and no recognition. Tucked away in some vault never to be used anywhere because now Dell owns it and I can't use it.

You don't get "a share of any royalties" -- there's an award, yes, but last time I got a Dell patent, the award was paid in RSUs and it was not large. Prior to that it was a cash award. No royalties.
