@fb They didn't have a problem with the billion dollar emolument in the form of a Qatari jet, so they'll have no issue with the Ellisons accepting blood money to pursue their Zionist propaganda ambitions.
All of this is effing sad. How many people do we expect will be laid off this time??
There was talk of Pluto being integrated, and just making a free version of P+ with the same Ads Pluto has.
@f2 HBO Max is toast. It will be nothing more than a hub on P+.
Once Paramount integrates HBO content into the Paramount+ app, HBO Max becomes redundant because the technology stack, billing system, and global distribution will run through Paramount+ instead. Keeping HBO Max as a separate platform would only duplicate costs.
We make an exception for Pluto because it is built around a completely different business model. Keeping Pluto separate lets Paramount capture two audiences at once: premium content vs FAST, whereas HBO becomes entirely redundant.
Abu dabi, qatar & Dubai funding the merger - good luck with dept. Of justice on this
DE publicly stated that if the proposed merger with Warner Bros. Discovery goes through, the plan is to combine HBO Max and Paramount+ into one streaming service.
@f0 Do you think that HBO Max will cease to exist or continue to exist?
@ec Don't read the articles. Listen to what David said and as someone in the know we have no plans to merge products just platforms.
@ea No, there are merging products. This comes from the NY Post article:
"HBO Max and Paramount+ will be combined into one streaming platform"
"HBO – which is currently owned by WBD – is likely to become a sub-brand within a new, larger streaming service, a source familiar with Paramount’s plans told CNBC."
The future is clear -https://press.wbd.com/us/media-release/warnermedia-acquires-youi-tv?language_content_entity=en
That’s fake news and not what Nepo baby said at all. They are merging the technology not the products. So weird how much this has been miss reported.
@e1 The two services I constantly have trouble with - Pluto & P+.
@dz They're too busy with meetings and Agile. Recall that Agile and meetings take center stage, in this clown $sh-t-show not the P+ app or the paying customers, remember?
@dz it's really odd, because I have never had a performance issue with P+, PTV, or HBO Max. I've had problems with Hulu and Peacock here and there, but nothing to truly rage over. Amazon Prime as well, no performance issues.
I think he even said before that the HBO content would just transfer over to P+. Not really anything new.
I wonder if his team actually uses the P+ app. It’s so glitchy on the firesticks, and boxes. It often freezes, or moves really slow. Seems to work best on phones/ipads. No one seems to address this.
@dw Understandable that you're "curious what leadership has planned," but you should have realized by now that 'LEADERSHIP' HAS NO PLAN.
Davey doesn't know what he's doing, and he's surrounded himself with people whose biggest qualification for the job was their ability to keep a straight face while they told him that he totally DID know what he was doing.
The guy doesn't think about -- or want to hear about -- complexities. He wants to sp-t out simple answers to complex questions and then wait for the applause at his genius ability to boil it down to its lowest common denominator and then wait for daddy to come in and salvage the wreck that he's made of things.
THAT, my friends, is how he thinks he's a successful entrepreneur. No plan. No profits. No humanity. Just smash, grab, lose, and call dad.
@at HBOtime SkyMaxPlus. They'll keep the motif of the Paramount logo, but they'll change the mountain design from one inspired by Artesonraju to Mount Zion.
I'm not here to throw shade at HBO or P+....but....
Wouldn't migrating Pluto TV and P+ onto the HBO Max tech stack would be disruptive because you would be forcing two very different distribution models onto infrastructure built primarily for a premium SVOD experience?
Pluto’s FAST channel architecture, ad load management, and linear streams are operationally different from how HBO Max was engineered (I think), so retrofitting that stack could create performance issues and higher engineering costs.
On top of that, abandoning Paramount’s existing unified backend after the proposed convergence work would waste capital, reset roadmaps, and delay global scaling at the exact moment the combined company needed it.
However, I'm curious what leadership has planned. I would say, handling licensing for HBO content under Paramount’s existing rights and distribution systems is typically far less disruptive and cheaper than migrating everything onto the HBO Max tech stack, because contracts and windowing logic can be integrated without rebuilding core infrastructure.
If I had a to bet, I would HBO just becomes a hub on the P+ app, like MTV, BET, Showtime, etc.
I admit it's rather interesting how people are so upset about "losing" HBO Max. Is it the programming they will think they'll lose, or the app itself? Or Both?
Can’t wait to see what a sh-t show this will be in a couple of years when they realize WB and P+ are just money pits. Betting NBCU will be buying the whole thing on 2030 when it falls apart.
Anyone else too burnt out by the last 2 years to even stress about another merger?
I’m waiting for them to basically say out loud that showtime was a pos brand so they didn’t bother to preserve it, but hbo is different
This was already planned out from the beginning. Most US/International Staff(Fulltime) and US contractors will be replaced by people overseas contractors recouping signifiant $$$ from labor costs. So it doesnt matter which platform wins. There will be casualties on both sides.
@a3 yup, he’s going to ruin two companies in less than a year and then tell the press how proud of himself he is
Cue the consultants to come in for months working out a new name for the service, and they settle on 'SkydanceMAX with HBOShowtime'
lol HBOMax will be converged with P+'s garbage UI. That's gonna be rich.
@a2 Seriously. Only the content will merge - which platform will reign supreme? (gulp)
And the entire company will be broken up again in two years when this is shown to be a miserable failure under the incompetent leadership of a failed actor Nepo baby.
Who will merge into who is the real question?
The only winner is Oracle which both streaming services will be forced onto
