If your name is picked for layoffs, can you ask if you can get some time to try out applications for other teams ?
I know that FAANG has this policy. Curious if Dell does too.
This might help those who cannot get jobs elsewhere or might not want to relocate.
Do they give you time to find something internally? No.
If your name is on a layoff list and your manager feels you are of value, they can try to find you a new role elsewhere HOWEVER, if you are remote... then you are SOL because Dell doesn't offer remote jobs anymore.
No. If you get laid off then it's done. The ONLY time this is a possibility is if your manager/director is able to find you a different role. If they can't then... yeah, toast.

I’ve seen it happen a few times over the last few years, especially when teams are completely collapsed and up for WFR. The top talent are unofficial introduced and interviewed by other managers who may be able to open a rec.

Dell used to do this frequently, but reqs are locked down hard and "interview for your life" is not really an option. The goal is no longer to "right size" individual organizations. It is to reduce company headcount by as much as possible.
If you're worth keeping around management finds a place for you. If you make the layoff list then then you've that been identified as dead weight. Dell doesn't want you around, so why on earth would they move you to a different team nd force them to take up your slack?
