Do you think they will not announce layoff this month and push it to Q2

Is there any possibility to not announcing layoff this month and pushing it to Q2

they chased away some key young people from the company due to internal politics and now some of the "influential" older folks will leach off what is left of the company.

@88j truer words haven’t been spoken. It is all so extremely political for no reason

@4qm some talented young engineers have been laid off by companies. The company feels like a Roman retirement home, where outstanding young engineers, lacking political capital, find it very difficult to stand out.

It's not about the actual age of either the leadership or engineers. It's the culture, operating structures, and decision-making leadership has chosen. Plenty of people are bad leaders at 30 and plenty are bad leaders at 80.

@42n you have 50, 60 and 70 year olds running the show. You have a Sr VP here and there in their 40’s. But where are the young executives? Where are the young hotshot engineers? This whole company comes off as a legacy boomer organization. Look at it : badge in badge out, satellite TV, geo platforms. Wow really cutting edge and a place where talented engineers and technical talent would go - said no one ever.

They may not even need layoffs many teams are already experiencing high attrition of key talent, in some cases nearing the point of collapse. This is driven by a mix of factors, including internal politics following reorganizations and a strengthening job

Hughes lacks youthful energy, which is the fundamental reason it cannot adapt to competition. The company has laid off a large number of younger engineers and no longer has much hope for the future.

@OP They could possibly move it to Q2. The word is that about 20 or 30 people will be retiring at Hughes in April. If that mass retirement happens I wonder if layoffs for engineers and non VPs will not happen. Or maybe the layoffs are in addition.
