Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

When is the checked out Mgmt going to get the axe?

There might be pockets of difference, but for the Dir level and up in sales, the zombie apocalypse is in full form. Pete is a super smart and nice guy, but underneath him, and I don’t think he knows, there are so many checked out Mgrs. I am talking all time high #s of Mgrs that are checked out.

Under appreciated, no control, and given direction that contradicts good business.

Managers are checked out because they have been stripped of having any real meaningful role. My manager confided in me recently that all he is expected/allowed to do anymore is read only company approved reports regarding his team's performance and then make recommendations to his boss for who stays, who goes, or who gets what raise/bonus %. He can't even make schedule changes without submitting a ticket for approval.

Management have been told what to do. No imagination. Just do as one is told.

The majority of our SVPs are mindless zombies who are over paid, greedy POS who would do anything, lie, cheat, steal. For a buck. They’re untalented, pathetic and sad.

It's the same in engineering and product. Even when they are checked in they're worthless because so many of them are totally incompetent.

If I were a manager, I would be checked out 100%

Before the middle management "flattening" last year - where they demoted all SR. Managers to Consultants and/or PM's, my manager was working hybrid as there was a local office to them. Well, they closed that office and now they are stuck as full remote. Which remotes are not eligible for promotions unless they relocate.

So, they are basically in a literal dead-end job at this point and in all honesty, I feel like most of the ex sr. managers are as well becuase Dell never promotes! Especially at that grade level. So he's basically never gonna be a manager again at Dell as he would have to relocate for either a promotion or even internal movement.

As for directors? I'd bet a lot of them will quit because who tf wants TWENTY directs to manage lol?
