Me and a fellow Dir spoke to another Senior Dir who is pretty close to an AVP. The AVP (who is pals with senior tier management) reckons there won’t be any more layoffs. I put a lot of faith in what this AVP says because he/she knows people at the decision making levels.

Sometimes the decisions are made from above and they don't tell an AD until the day before.

Always be prepared as a riff can come anytime..... that is the problem with VZ Leadership, the lack of planning, lack on ingenuity, lack of true leadership... RIFFs are a knee je-k reaction to meet short term metrics, not real long term strategy.
Unless you are in GTS, then they call it a 'talent refresh'.... lol..

A senior Band 4 told me that everyone should always be ready for anything. No one can guess what’s going to be next move. Even the senior leaders can’t guess at this point.
When you hear that then that means it's you soon.

Had a call with our a-s kissing Srdir and the avp.
Avp said yes there will be more layoffs. Then proceeded to guess where it would be coming from.
Srdir then started bootlicking to such an obvious point the avp was like okay pal dial it down
dont believe any leader who says no layoffs will occur. reasons:
they wouldn't tell you about confidential plans
many leaders who said there would be no layoffs last time either lied or didn't know. some were laid off themselves
they aren't your friends even if they act like it and "hang out" with you outside work. many collect gossip to use for their own purposes to climb the ladder
even if they dont want to layoff people, they would in a heartbeat to save their own job
verizon doesn't owe you an explanation and the CEO has said cost-cutting will be a regular practice

@OP maybe your contacts are on the list to be let go , and not in the know
this is not true. what is coming next will be large in scale and surprising. it will directly aim for leadership levels such as svp, vp, avp, sr. dir, dir, and assoc dir levels (and some underneath those rankings). i have direct knowledge and it is logical because of all the "fat" that was created by having redundant job titles that pay more but offer little value. many were hired during covid and live hours away from their assigned RTO location which Verizon is aiming to correct.
high ranking individuals who have confirmed this. the OPs supposed contacts are very likely included in the upcoming cuts.
