Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Sunday Sickness..

For the employees located in South Jersey/Burlington who have been working from home the last 6 weeks due to renovations to make room for CFS in July, how is everyone feeling going back in tomorrow? I am not going to lie, dreading it.. Not only just the mere fact of going back into the office after being in a better place mentally from WFH, but like alot of people, seating arrangements are not great, alot doesn't make sense, I feel like it will be just another giant cluster*u-k.. I know we should be grateful about having a job, but I know plenty of people that are wishing they were one of the ones laid off--all we can hope for is that another round comes in the summer..

@es Sammy Sun is a racist POS. Only thing missing is the white hoods used by the K-K.

@f2 The wives of management have already have found a bigger and better "package" and their family lives su-k.

Have fun in divorce court because you are about to experience the same pain you have derived enjoyment for far too long.

@eb And you're either a bootlicker or a hired g-n for a PR company attempting to deflect. There's an appropriate acronym for you: KMA!!!!

Pay close attention, let it sink in and really understand what Canon U.S.A. represents, specially with Sammy at the driver seat!

They can’t wait to transfer from Japan to escape difficult working conditions, yet once here, they often operate with immunity to consequences, can’t get fire. They continue to be promoted, leap frogging American workers and end up recreating the same rigid, unhealthy environment they were trying to leave behind in Japan.

That’s Canon USA really!

@ea That would of been a blessing to be let go from this toxic company in 2020 ,all they did was stress us out and gave no raises that year

They were not renovating anything on the B side just rearranging cubicals. As for the A side I believe there only renovating the executive area. This is going to take a lot more time. All the furniture is down A side is empty now the new furniture needs to be built. A side will take longer that's why they did B side first to not keep us home for 3 months. This was in the meeting/email.

To all executives peeping here it's quite simple, one more "anonymous survey" to all. Would you leave with a package? That's your number of disengaged already lost employees - the ones you really need to worry about. Most doing more harm than good at this point.

@ew I agree 100%..There was nothing new about these "renovations".. What I noticed was ripped pieces of carpet, desks were still garbage, the all out vibe walking in and not seeing any overheads to give you a little privacy was atrocious.. I noticed some people are cramped in, others there are a desk between.. What a great atmosphere to walk back into....

Was it really necessary for Burlington to make everyone work from home for 5 weeks? They just rearranged existing desk stations, which were filthy dirty by the way and were not completely cleaned out. I was expecting walls to be knocked out, a complete new look and feel, but instead everything looked just about the same.

Get your resumes up to date and start to look for better pastures, don’t give these Japanese a chance to terminate your position because they don’t agree with you or can’t handle a no, I don’t agree with you. Kobayashi Canon USA doesn’t appreciate American workers, he and the entire Japanese management team thinks we are all lazy!

@ek right?! The “just leave” mentality is only uttered by those intentionally fostering a toxic workplace. Some of the things that have been stated in large group meetings since the calendar turned to ‘26 have made it abundantly clear that this company is trying to force people to resign on their own. The toxicity of upper management these days is palpable…

Wow, either the high-level corporate boomers excited about ruining the lives of their soon-to-be-laid-off employees or some AMAZING bootlickers invaded the comments on this thread...

Hot take: Wealth consolidation is bad and when the rich have acquired all the money, influence, and resources; the poor and (former) middle class will have nothing left to eat... except for the rich. NOM NOM

Hahaha, stealing from them?! They amount of time and money they've robbed from all of us, me being disgruntled and doing the bare minimum now instead of going "above and beyond" like I used to when I started a decade ago, is at worst getting even. They won't do more than the bare minimum for me, despite years of loyalty and extra effort, then that is all they are getting in return now.

You want to talk about stealing? How bout sending executives to special training where they drink wine with a nice steak dinner on the company dime, right after the massive layoffs? How bout the executives getting a fat bonus after the same layoffs? How bout Sammy traveling all over the fu--ing planet, wasting time and money, just for fu--ing photo ops? Tens of thousands of dollars spent on landscaping so the grass looks pretty for Mr. Mitarai? The amount of money this company wastes on frivolous nonsense is absurd, to equate quiet quitting to stealing is absolutely audacious. Though I'd expect nothing less from you bootlicking clowns. Yeah, you'll continue to see me in the office... until you don't. And you'll get the double bird on the way out.

@e5 you quit quietly if you were adult enough you would resign like a good human and find a work from home job. Instead you decide to steal from the company. Seems legit and fair to me. I’ll drive to work and do the job I’m paid to do like a responsible human. You can keep complaining that you have to go to a new refinished office three days a week. How about this get a job in NYC then complain about your commute. But you won’t do that you will just complain and steal your paycheck because that’s easier. Sound about right? I’ll see you in the office tomorrow ;)

@e5 keep stealing from the same company who didn’t lay you off in 2020 when the world was upside down. How quickly we forget the past. Stay home do us a favor quit so you don’t get anything on the backend

@db spoken like a true narrow minded conservative ja----s. It has been PROVEN that WFH is more productive, maybe because a higher quality of life leads to happier employees, and happy employees are productive employees. But no, force people to be miserable and waste time, energy, and resources commuting to a sterile, crowded office, to deal with and be micromanaged by a--holes in like YOU. I'd get more done at home in pajamas than you could in your fu--ing business casual in the office any day of the week, but I am happily "quiet quitting" until I find a better opportunity, like many of my colleagues. If you enjoy going to an office, knock yourself out bud, but don't force sh-t on people if it's not their preference.

@db it’s good to see the Friday f-ckboys in here with their old school boot licking mentality
Some people work better in office- cool go to the office. You wanna be in 5 days a week. See yourself to the discount meals on Friday!

Some people don’t like to waste their time and mental energy commuting with the entire city at the same time and then rush home to get their kids to whatever after school things they have going on. Spending an extra hour a day for what you can do at home! Then having to talk to people in the office like you with their one size fits all idealism.

Oh I had to do it so you should do it…
Wouldn’t progress be making life easier for people?
Keep doing the same sh-t get the same results in the same toilet

What did you do before Covid days? Didn’t you goto the office like an adult 5 days a week? Please find a new job where you can sit home in your pjs and do the bare minimum. Hope you got to work safe today.

@ah I don't think the majority of people are happy here...The sad part is most people can't just quit so they will just have to bide their time..

Get ready to sweat! With everybody crammed in together moving forward, I hope everybody plans to shower daily. Maybe we can roast marshmallows with all the body heat and watch one of ML’s legendary Google Fireside chats to get all nice and toasty on a cold winter day.

That’s just sad. Hoping for a layoff or better mental health working from home, your better off just finding a new job because you won’t ever be happy here
