Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Which parts of a job are more draining or traumatic for you than they let on?

I'm asking because I dread any team-building experiences and apparently I'm a minority in that. I wonder what other people see as horrible that I might see as perfectly normal.

@OP None. I show up, to what it says in the job description to the minimum standard, and go home.

You people need to stop bringing your personal feelings and baggage into work. That would fix 70% of what’s wrong with the place.

Imagine working in a manufacturing environment when you are constantly held accountable for the shortcomings of others, disempowered but held accountable for minimized responsibilities you do have, and being over worked, getting perpetually squeezed and needing to do more with less. Plus the PA stuff

Hot desking sounds rough though

The entire job is a drain. Dealing with people, meetings, PDS bullsh1t. It all su-ks. I start each day, "God, help me through another day here at xom jail." Each year is an a55 whip.

Assessment process. Creating pds. Getting KO feedback. Getting ranking feedback.

Hot desking, working with people with zero experience yet convinced they know everything, being booked up with meetings all day and expected to get your work done outside of working hours, being assessed in PDS by people you don't respect.

Annual assessment process. It is no good. Also after work events that should be done during working hours. Don’t take me away from my family for no reason.
