Responsibility of ADs

My AD manages 2 people and owns one product . No working level duties .. No delivery pressure or resolving ground level problems

Keep making decks and spreadsheets. Attending meetings where they are not even required.. Taking status from us passing it to leaders as if she is making great progress

ADs are very busy updating smartsheets, slides and telling everyone their achievements…that’s a full time job

I don't think that people realize the effort it takes for these leaders to identify focus areas and key talking points to share about setting the foundation.

Director roles are the most useless

@b3 word of advice.. Stop making those useless presentations and Google Sheets..
Stop going to random meetings.. You are NOT the decision maker.. You are not helping anyone.. just adding more friction by blocking access to your actual team members.

@ay Ah! You must be my AD who likes to keep tracking our time like an admin and make passive aggressive comments if we take coffee breaks ..
At the same time, she pretend to know that she knows lots of technical stuff without any tech degree

I know an AD who doesn't manage anyone! How on earth folks have made it this far is a mystery!

Depends on the quality of people they are managing. My team is nothing but principal and distinguished engineers. We know what to do, how to get the job done, so we make him look good. All he has to do is set goals, establish team meetings, perform performance review reviews. Easy gig

WOW, my AD has 11 people, and manages over 15 programs both directional technology and legacy. The guy is busy but does a good job, isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. His peers in the same org are also loaded up with work. I guess it depends on where in the company or org you sit. I think the AVP level (and maybe some levels higher) are the one's I am not really sure what they do day to day.

I have two middlemen( AD and D) between me and Sr Director.
Basically their role is to pass message back and forth.
Pass Sr Director message to me and my message to Sr Director.
