Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

It's all collapsing

SMCI just ate our lunch on the OpenAI deal. We lost it strictly on price because OpenAI is finally getting squeezed on their burn and moving to a cost-plus model. It’s a total repeat of the cloud cycle where we lost the CSPs to direct ODM relationships. Enterprise AI is dead in the water—nobody knows how to actually win these accounts or what the roadmap even is. Good luck hitting quota.

Oh no..howcan it be.. i mean they retained the execs to drive the AI segments, after these genius execs crashed their existing products and laid off all their teams ?!!
I mean they chose the right decision makers..and all .

It's the beginning of the end for Dell Technologies in the Enterprise space... way to chart a path to oblivion senior leadership.

Doesnt our AI strategy come from a guy wearing two watches standing in front of a bunch of swords? We must be winning with that kind of leadership.

SMCI up 12% today. Dell 1/3rd that.

If we're at the point where we're regularly losing large deals to SMCI on price, we're sc--wed.

Its OK. OpenAI is going to tank before too long. They're losing money in the 10s of billions.

SMCI is going to replace Dell. Nice.

I wonder if the sales team at SMCI is hiring.

@an Congrats!!

Exactly! If we're now losing Enterprise AI deals on price (especially since that's all Dell could ever really compete on in the first place) we're done! Game over! Sayonara!

It's for sure as sh-t we don't compete on features, innovation, value, integration, or leading-edge architecture. All we know is commodity.

I left 6 months ago all on my own. I saw it coming. Making way more than I ever did at Dell.

if you're buying enterprise IT as a commodity, price is largely all that matters.
SMCI equipment is more variable in spec, comes with less resilience, weaker support models, but little of this matters when you're rolling out at scale, with your own modified Linux distro, with redundancy built in at the rack level.

Think about it - with the enormous buying power and supply chain Dell has at its disposal, if we are losing to SMCI on price alone we are truly sc--wed. Time to pack it up.
