Smart Price

I work in fed sales and we just started smart price this quarter. How is it working for everyone?

Our pricing seems to have jumped A LOT over what we have done in the past, which has been margin rich. I would guess they actually have zero fed data so I am not sure how their algorithm really works to begin with in our territory.

Thinking about it, they say this is all based on win/loss data. Is it worth it to create SFDCs and quotes, set them at smart price. Wait 30 days then close them at a loss due to pricing? It would seem that would drive down the algorithm.

Every opp I do, whether it’s win or lost for the reason I always do pricing. Hoping some algorithm picks it up or for all I know it’s pointless.

What’s the consensus on smart pricing amongst Sales? Does it seem like it is going to actually help?

Margins will go up but overall dollars will go down. That's the "one dell way"

smart pricing is all about momentum & automation - less effort for inside sales, more agility for channel.

In some cases margins will go up. Special pricing requests increase for competitive bids.
