Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Headcount is the inverse of stock price

May is going to be brutal. Especially for long tenured employees. George has hitched the wagon to the AI bubble which is in the process of deflating. If only we had invested in innovation instead of claiming NFS is a foundational technology for AI. Management only cares about the stock price.

AI is just another app that can run on NetApp storage. It’s the sales pitch as any other app that runs on NetApp. “We do snapshots, clones, storage efficiencies, replication, etc…..”. Where is the “special” AI value add? Did any of these features get modified to support AI in any special way…… No.

AI is the Hail Mary fake out tired execs are playing. It’s like pretending to know something to stop being tortured.

The move to ai is just vp’s buying time. They don’t know what they are talking about. A very frustrated vendor told me my manager (an svp) is a mo--n.

@1mf I think it’s safe to assume another ex-Oracle employee placed Gavin in his role.

@ek I'll tell you who needs to go along with the mafia gang of VPs, Gavin. How is he a so called ' CTO'? He does no customer meetings, sits there in Cork giving out orders. Dude isn't even technical. How on earth did he get that role?

It always is. Long time people have had a target on their back for a few years. They are cleaning them out little by little all with “your sphere of influence or impact isn’t high enough”

The annual revenue hasn’t increased since GK took over. He should have been gone long ago with many of the “mafia” VP’s that don’t deliver and do nothing but point the finger at others.
