Yes IBM and its competitors try to follow the money. IEEE opinions probably do not carry much weight and Gartner and Forester carry more weight. I know a company I worked at paid 150K per year to Gartner. I never did fully trust the opinions of Gartner,

IBM is an entity, led by a tribe of cabal thieves. The current Indians tribe running IBM does not care about predictions by some academics. The cabal of IBM executives cares mostly about short term gains for themselves to collect fat bonuses. The Indians move most of the technology and know-how to India, They most likely plans to return to India to profit from the loot (stolen from the US workforce).
