Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Hemorrhaging engineers and clerical staff.

ENB is hemorrhaging engineers and clerical staff. Overheard that directors are panicking because their depts are being wiped out with folks leaving to work for consultants who allow WFH. The panick is that they don't have any help from above. I'm curious to see where this leads.

Pay used to be enough to keep people, but that has stagnated to the point the big consultant firms are comparable, with full WFH options.

I don’t know about people leaving or directors panicking but the pay here has suffered for some time. And our benefits are slowly but surely being scaled back. We will see how it all shakes out in the end.
Each year, little perks disappeared. Each year Salaries slipped a little more. Year after year, the Golden Handcuffs tarnished a little more. This used to be an employer that people were honored to work for. Now, not so much!
Not that blame will ever be properly placed, but the ELT was directly responsible for the decline of a once honorable company.
You can thank AM for this.

I've been reading this and thread over and over for what... five years? The exodus isn't real. Pro pple aren't leaving in large enough numbers to matter. I've diversified, but I still have 30% of my ENB.

If people didn't leave during the tumult of 2018 to 2021 they won't now.

pretty certain i know the team you are speaking of. the work was handed off to other admins with essentially zero training or supervision. it's a disaster. only saving grace is that we have a fairly good working relationship with this regulatory body and it can submit the report in the new year but it still isn't a good look.

it's like that picture of the corporate totem pole with the s##t falling down on to the lowest section. h3ll hath no fury like the insecure and incompetent middle manager who has no hope or dream of rising up the ranks.

There is a team within our business unit who did not extend the contracts for two of their admins (~150,000K/yr for both) and the argument was that the engineers will be able to take on the clerical side of things. Shocking that only one of them was open to doing those repetitive tasks. I heard that there was a critical year end report that was due to one of the regulators and it will not be submitted on time. Talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Guess the work was offloaded on other admins in different units..-.. Likely as they know that these admin/clerical folks are desperate to keep working and may not be overly educated. Why do some of the most stup1d people rise to management? I would hazard a bet that those responsible for the move already have a plan to blame these other admins for their f up in the new year.

Merry Christmas, eh.
