Just in headend will be contractors based also. They are currently looking at a few potential companies to take over....
Only people to blame are employees for letting this happen.. Chicken sh--s

@3mk You just keep working for ATS, Oh wait that didn't work.. Come back to Altice. On second thought well get rid of you again. Have fun at Mastec, soon enough if your not a field tech. Then they will just let you go. Enjoy your time with the company that doesn't give a cr-p.
@ng Whos the first person that gets called when a customer has a bad picture?, The HE. Umm WHAT?
Customer complaint, HE, Did you slip in the shower? I mean really you are going to hurt yourself reaching that far.
Slow speeds, HE, Come again?
New construction activations, HE, I mean we will give you 1/2 of this one (after everyone else has done their part).
Support for ALL the other departments F** Headend! each department works hand in hand, so this really isn't a show stopper!
all this in fight and could be easily answered in writing by top management. i asked my director and manager if they heard anything and the answer was.. everyone will find out if the company has something to say lol. they are looking to cut costs plain and simple they dont care about customers or service being up. they are su-king the money dry. look over the years of the cr-ppy services that has been coming and customers running. then the company pays connected people to write bs awards and stories about how great services are. everyone can blame every group but it starts with the top and blind loyalty. what ever the case is we did it to our self to let this happen if it does happen.
good luck and start planing
@165 there isn’t any misunderstanding, there’s a difference in legacy Suddenlink and legacy cablevision headends. I can’t speak for suddenlink headends but I can speak for cablevision headends, the only thing old and obsolete about them are the buildings themselves. While there may be old obsolete equipment in them, it’s not in use and gets removed over time or when more space in a rack is needed. The equipment running the system on the HFC side from the UBRs to the transmitters for the nodes all work as designed and are no where near end of life.
There appears to be a growing lack of understanding regarding the role and responsibilities of Headend Technicians. During the most recent snowstorm, when field technicians were pulled off the road, Headend Technicians were required to remain onsite for the duration of the event, climbing onto rooftops and clearing snow from satellite dishes to maintain service continuity.
These ISP technicians have been sustaining an aging network with severely limited resources. Contracting out this work would have a significant negative impact on system reliability. The Headend team is already operating with minimal staffing. Before such a transition could even be considered, the company would need to make a substantial investment in headend infrastructure, equipment, and organizational support.
I just can’t see that happening for the foreseeable future.
Being sold off was the dream. That was until that fateful day in December when they sold us off to contractor he-l, since no reputable org would get near this place with a 11 foot pole.
@r0 There is no mixing up. Enoc services west enterprise b2b (aka legacy suddenlink) as Lighpath services mostly east enterprise b2b. There was no mention of Lighpath when talking about enoc, their tasks, their access or their outsourcing to Jamaica which is wild given what they have access to in the west aka legacy Suddenlink footprint. Enoc is not lighpath, not sure why that correlation was made.
To be back on topic though nobody is safe. There are teams that can take down provisioning, databases, video services for parts of the network with just a few clicks have already been outsourced. The damage that can be done by these vendors and outsourced workers is well beyond some incompetence at a remote headend. The master headends are maybe a different story. To assume headend techs may never be contracted out is frankly naive. It would be a d-mb move, but it would just be on an already long list of d-mb things this company has done. No team should assume they are safe. I can promise you all the teams that got let go thought the same way. Altice simply does not care. Right now they are in pure survival mode.
If they can't increase revenue I could see parts of the coverage areas being sold aggressively. I don't think anyone is stupid enough to buy out the company entirely in its current state. And to be honest, there are markets that make absolutely no sense for Altice to own in the legacy SDL footprint that would probably be prime targets. Most of the legacy SDL footprint is an absolute mess. And with budgets being slashed, I dont see many of the issues being fixed.
@kb you seem to be mixing up legacy catv and Lightpath, the catv side doesn’t service cell sites, and for the most part catv side only provides tv service to government buildings. ISP for Altice work on the HFC and FTTH side of the network, Lightpath has their own techs that service their equipment in the headends.
LOL..Whoever started this thread just wants to stir S*. You have NO idea what the HE does and to be honest a lot of people don't. Whos the first person that gets called when a customer has a bad picture?, The HE. Customer complaint, HE, Slow speeds, HE, New construction activations, HE, Support for ALL the other departments F** Headend! ..Ect... Come and work there for a day, look around. Good luck having contractors come in and do that Job. Your just mad because its 68* year round..
@eg usually the people calling others lazy are the most lazy , do you even know what the headend does? Keep eating your doughnuts while the rest work , nobody cares about your whining about how much better you are than the headend .
@hf Would it really surprise anyone? Most of this company has been outsourced at this point. Most of the field is contractors. Customer service is almost entirely outsourced. Billing and provisioning is outsourced to Amdocs. The roc and nl2 had their jobs sent to India. Enoc had most of their roles sent to Jamaica. Pure insanity that they let people from another country get their hands on West routers and equip that services military bases, govt offices, hospitals, large business, cell towers, etc. The amount of destruction they can cause.. We have engineering teams, database teams and other monitoring teams that have been outsourced in other countries.
I'm not saying for sure that headends will be handed over to contractors but.. don't be to surprised if it happens given what has already happened. This company has given the keys to the kingdom to 3rd party vendors and contractors working in other countries that could cause FAR more damage with just a few mouse clicks.
We have senior leadership (SVP+) of technology and other teams that lie through their teeth to cover their own behinds while throwing their employees in the fire for their own failures. All trust is lost in this company as we hit new 52 week lows. Current and prior executive leadership has been selling millions of dollars in stock which signals extremely bearish sentiment. This company is on the brink of collapse and is doing whatever they can to survive 1 more day.
Nothing should surprise you at this point or be unexpected. Keep your skills sharp and your eyes open for other opportunities.
I don’t buy it they would never have contractors control the he
The ISP team doesn't do anything and have gotten way too comfortable. Mastec will happily take these positions as well. This is what happens when you have a LAZY and incompetent workforce.
How do you sell a company without selling the company - like this
Contractors working in the head end always means outages all over the place. Whatever work they do in there always results in node impairments of some variety. It never fails. Whoever is doing the plant work will be hella busy.
How are you going to give the heartbeat of a company to a contractor?????
No union, agreements, anything would have stopped this.
Lolz
