Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Merit and RRP a Joke here!

We are being told if you are a 3 or a 4 this year for your merit increase expect somewhere from a 0-1%, what kind of a joke is this company (doesn’t even cover inflation here in Texas) yet they give those a*holes at the top millions of dollars in bonuses…

RRP somewhere in the realm of 70%, this company expects you to put in 100% effort while paying you pennies, are we in China? So my advice to everyone, milk your job and do the bare minimum.

I got a 4/5 last year and got 1.25%. There’s no incentive here period

Team is L29-32. No RRP, $100 total raises. RSUs not part of the conversation at all. Writing is on the wall, in blood red comic sans font.

This year RRP is higher than last for us and it was good last year (pool of over 30,000 for a team of 5). No idea how they decide to spread thing throughout business segments, but this is GL 28 and lowers.

@a4 kinda pathetic that you’re here to troll employees trying to get info lacking from their leaders or commiserating and connecting with others going through a shared experience. I feel sorry for how empty your life must be.

My turning point? A 1.5% merit increase with a 4 last year, equating to a $0.16 hourly raise.

After six interviews over 3 months, I remember being so proud to be "chosen" to work for this company. So much has changed since then, and it took a LOT for me to realize that I deserved so much more despite the fact that I was constantly reminded that I was lucky to be employed with them. Fortunately I was able to "break free" after months and months of job searching and finally landed a position that actually compensates reflective of my ability and experience.

To each of you who feel stuck in all the darkness and uncertainty: I hope you remember that you are deserving of so much more than Optum/UHG can offer. Please take care of yourselves.
Eat. Sleep. Smile sometimes. If any of those are ever a question, PLEASE start planning your exit. None of this is worth losing your light over.

@aj it's what we all should be doing until they respect their own workforce

feel bad for anyone who is under 50 and works here. No wonder all the talent stays clear of any type of management. How can we motivate folks with that?

Essentially, it's a pay cut every year. I gave up long ago and do the bare minimum.

I don't get it either. There is so little to incentivizing anyone within the enterprise to work hard at this point. After almost 5 years with the company my compensation - especially compared to cost of living is negative from when I started. It's not really sustainable much longer.

Left for about a year ago for remote role in tech (non-tech background). Got more in RSUs on hire than I have made cumulative at UHG between 2019-2024 in RRP and RSUs.

UHG is a bluechip/conservative boring utility run and until last year priced like a massive growth tech company. So now you get the mass layoffs of a tech company and horrendous compensation of a utility. Until UHG comes to terms with this and unwinds most of its acquisitions, this will be the case.

It's so incredibly tone deaf. Especially when as the Chairman of the Board, CEO Skeletor approved his own salary.

We should unionize.
