what impeccable logic

Electricity prices are going up because of data centers across the country.

There aren't enough electric cars to affect prices.

DTE Electric bills are going up after the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) approved a $242.4 million rate increase.
DTE was seeking a $574.1 million increase.

Yeah, this whole EV thing is looking better all the time! Who could have seen that coming?

Maybe Chinese buses are what we need to peddle?

Or maybe not.

@y3 it’s not capitalism when the government dictates what will be produced and sold, did you fail Econ or civics or both?

@xr I suppose nothing was working not even a charger. I think you miss the point of the poster. More EV's mean more blackouts. There is no infra-structure so this whole schtick is inane.

Were the gas stations working in areas with power blackouts?

We need EV's draining power off our grid like we need cold candle lit evenings.

"Last week’s Winter Storm Fern saw many areas of the U.S. come very close to blackouts as grids were stretched to their limits by weather-related demand. "

But that doesn't solve your overproduction problem right?

Chinese EVs are sold all over China (duh), Europe, Mexico, South America, and soon Canada.

You don't hear about unusual fires.

US makes import batteries, too.

I did hear about battery problems with the Bolt. Where were its batteries made?

Give it a rest. The first major thermal event will send all the fan boys running for cover and the insurance companies doubling their rates. Meh, $/kw will also rocket nicely with all the data centers and utility company required expansion to fulfill this delusion.

But hey, there's. a great deal on Volvo EX30's running right now.

@e5

If the Chinese government wants to sell me a great car for cheap, I'm fine with that.

GM will compete and build an even better car at a fair price.

That's how competition works.

That's how capitalism works.

Republicans have always been against antitrust regulations and regulations in general and in favor of small goverment, so don't ask for government help now.

I test drove a Ch1nese clone of a Tesla Model S parts, plant and labor fully subsidized by the CCP. Now I'm smitten.

This isn't an EV vs ICE subject. It's a CH CCP fully subsidized product market dump meant to destabilize the United States by destroying their biggest manufacturing industry subject. The people who cheer this on are cheering on the destruction of the United States. It's very simple. And PS if Orange Guy allows these plants, his hubris will destroy our tourism & manufacturing, tax base & GDP. His legacy will be that he was cowed by the CCP. America first? SMH

the logic checks out:
"If no one actually wanted EVs, they wouldn't be blocking imports"

also true:
"propaganda more propaganda and even more BS"

also true: chinese communist party is paying for 50% of every EV they sell. and this cannot go on forever.

also true: usa service network is expensive, good luck building it while maintaining the price point

also true: if china wants our marketshare, they will have to build on our soil with our material - at that point, the subsidies they are getting from the CCP cannot help any more

also true: we buy from china, china does not want or need to buy anything from us. this cannot work as it makes no sense for us. so, they will either have to figure out what to buy from us or figure out how to stop selling us stuff. we are fine in both cases but this cannot continue to be a one way street. their romance with the west is over.

happy friday all

So many posters here say EVs are terrible and nobody wants them, and the SLT made a mistake in making EVs.

Yet if you read articles from the "real world," people love Chinese EVs. Even Ford's CEO loves them.

If no one actually wanted EVs, they wouldn't be blocking imports.

I think people love EVs done right, but American companies don't do them right, so they're not competitive.
