Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco Layoffs confirmed

Just got off call about LR's. We each got a list of people affected in our respective teams, pretty much informed that we have to break the ice with each person affected. So yes, February layoffs are unfortunately confirmed.

I reckon it’s likely. Been a while since we whacked any substantial numbers beyond the sneaky take outs. I would think that some eVP thinks it’s time to clean house (or something). I could see some whacko pitching the SLT that we need to starting whacking people ahead of the AI curve.
Although if they are asking Circuit to replace even a single brain cell, I wish them good luck.

I don't take any of the dates or numbers seriously, but Cisco laid off 27% in 2001 and they've had layoffs, sometimes as often as quarterly, ever since. There was a big wave of people complaining about PIPs here not that long ago, but either way, unless Cisco shows some fundamental change they'll be hurling bodies off the ship as long as they are an ongoing concern.

It's possible, but certainly not company wide. I'll say it again...the person who took over as CFO in FY26 has stated very publicly that he wants to grow the bottom line faster than top line. And the only way to do that is by reducing costs at a significant rate, and employee cost is typically the biggest one - other than bringing Tom Brady to a Cisco Beat.

Meaning, this CFO likely considers LRs as a feature, not a bug. Stop being surprised; it just shows you're not paying attention.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see layoffs happen in the next couple weeks, but let’s be honest, those that are talking don’t know anything, and those that know something aren’t talking.

If you got the list for your team, then you also have the exact date it’s happening. To confirm your post is true than give the date.

If not, you’re full of it.

@OP You don't "break the ice" you twitt. As a manager... you schedule a 15 minute mandatory call with the IC to be impacted and a HR representative. You read a pre-paired script word for word, you do not deviate, you end the call. IC gets package info ~28-48 hours later. They choose to accept (or not). That's it. You are a fu--ing liar and don't know sh-t.

Layoffs or not, this post is BS. No company "breaks the ice" with people to be laid off ahead of time. You find out the day-of and that's it.

@bs no one is saying they informed the nominees. Reading comprehension is not that hard.

This is total BS and I'll tell you why. We never inform "nominees" ahead of time. Never ever. This is to avoid having employees show up with legal representation during the exit interview. There's no breaking the ice nonsense.

@ad history says good quarter doesn't always matter. Efficiencies are always on the table. Getting the list now also wouldn't be unusual. Having said that, I remain skeptical.

of course there will be layoffs like every 2 quarters but they gave you the list already? that doesn't sound right.
