In case people have not heard the directors of several LOBs have granted remote work during the time when everything in Minneapolis is going down.

@ce yeah, I’ve been remote more than a decade before Covid. Like a lot of IT were for years. You’re either a boomer or a child who is uninformed about corporate historical trends.
@ce if we accepted a job knowing it’s remote and we don’t live near an office, we made that choice. I’m sorry you love to lick the boot so hard but we don’t.
@ca are you going to relocate to India? Might need h1b to go work there.
Teams in India got over 5% raises and still left with more budget to give spot awards. Why don’t they close the us offices be done with it. The company is going to he-l anyway
@ce All of us were ordered to WFH in March of 2020. Most spent time & money upgrading our home offices and became adept at working remotely. During the past 5-6 years, nearly all teams lost colleagues in the Twin Cities while gaining offshore. As a result, the workforce distribution is far different than it was 5-6 years ago. In fact, many TC workers do not have any colleagues here anymore. Ignoring that reality ("Were any of you employed prior to Covid 19?") is gaslighting, a favorite strategy of trolls.
It’s a waste of time to RTO in MN for me. The only other teammate of mine forced to do RTO is on the east coast. It’s simply a way to get people to quit on their own.
@ce the company I worked for at that time had me sitting in a group with my peers, next to my leader, and surrounded by teams I interact with. It made sense to be there.
At Optum, every day you have to randomly choose a desk, on a random floor, and work next to people who never work with you, never will work with you in the future, and they likely will never sit at that place again. Your leader lives a thousand miles away on the coasts. Your team live all over the US. You simply wear down your car and spend a lot of money on fuel, oil changes, and tires, to sit on Teams in silence in a random cubicle. You are legit better off driving a half hour to your local library and sitting in the study room all day. It is the exact same as UHG’s RTO program.
I dont get what the big deal is with going into the office. Were any of you employed prior to Covid 19?
What actually happens if we don’t make 4 days average? Direct manager says he can make exceptions but not reporting to HR?? Seems sus since he’s outside the range and no comms that says any “easing” of rules. So stupid!
i report to a leadership line in india. they have no idea and don't care about anything happening in mpls.
Based on recent communications seems like they care more about people using Copilot 4x a week than RTO . Directly tied to performance reviews now, lol
Most people just stopped coming in after the 401k cuts and layoffs.
How generous.
