Locking phone for a year!

Verizon is so desperate to stop the bleeding they got their buddies at the FCC (many
Former executives of Verizon now work for the FCC) to agree to force people to stay by locking their phones for a year. Unreal.

I can't believe I am defending Verizon here, but Verizon was being treated differently than the other carriers and were losing a fortune. Phones on DPP should be locked until the day they are paid off. "Free" or subsidized prepaid handsets have to be locked for some period of time to make money.

The smartest thing to do is only buy unlocked phones from the manufacturer (Apple, Samsung, Google, etc.)

This actually only slightly levels the playing field. Honestly, if there is a DPP on a phone it should be locked until it is paid off, regardless of which carrier it is purchased through, why should the carrier be liable if the customer doesn’t pay? Having the phone locked at least gives the customer some reason not to sc--w us.

They should not have been the only company having to penalized in this way. That is the Government picking winners and losers so it was BS to begin with.
