I was laid off a while back. I really messed up during my layoff meeting.
I had enough service time to get the maximum severance and had kind of seen it coming and had taken steps to prepare for the next chapter of my career. So I was more or less going to be ok.
All the same it was upsetting and I let them see how upset I was, which was exactly the response they wanted.
I should have just laughed in their faces and walked out.

@aw do you not see the irony in your comment? Total lack of self awareness, empathy effectively nonexistent, and ignorance poorly disguised by a thick layer of arrogance. You’ve got every quality we look for in our leadership team.
P66 su-ks now. No big loss there.
Before I got let go, I was told that I couldn't apply for other open positions in the company which was a gigantic WTF?! Needless to say the open spots that I did apply for, I was rejected.
Such is life I guess...
I should have known only disgruntled losers who were laid off were the primary posters on this site lol
What all of you should do: have an employment attorney on speed dial. Good to have someone ready and waiting. Sign nothing until they have reviewed it.
