@11 it’s super common to be at $300k in senior field sales.

@kk I doubt anybody under a VP is making anywhere near 300k/year lol

@ke It's not lack of ambition necessarily. Some people genuinely like their job and raises are enough of an incentive I suppose.

@ke Not so much as lack of ambition so much as a lack of open spots above me or Dell's unwillingness to fill vacant positions at higher paygrades.

It’s not a lack of ambition it’s just when you’re in the highest pay grade for your particular role, and you’re already making $300 to $400k a year why would you mess with it?

How are people just chilling for 10 years without a promotion? Not an ambitious bone in your body

@be What level are you though? I feel like a lot of people who reach i8 get stuck there for a LONG time. an I8 is Sr.Advisor in my org. I know a guy who is STILL an i8 and he was an i8 when I first started 6 years ago - but he had been there for 5 years already... So, he's at year 10ish and still the same level.

I THINK an i9 is "consultant" but not sure... I'd imagine an i9+ is never getting promoted again though... at least the way Dell is treating promotions, anyways.

6 years now... I was a hair away from one last January when it was ripped away. He-l, i was even asked to fill out a new application for the higher grade lol. Then they come back and say "sorry, we thought we had the budget but we don't."

Luckily, I've had a total of 30% increase over those past 6 years from raises.

I know employees at Dell who have stayed in the same role for two decades and have seen very little in the way of merit raises.

10+ years. Never had one. Can not get enough raises for that near-impossible metric of the next rank.

10 years and counting. Silver lining is that two of my coworkers that started in the same role and at the same time as me who were promoted in the 1st two years have been layed off and I have not.

I've been at Dell 4 years and have never actually been promoted.

Now, I did start as a level 4 so that may be part of it.
