They never give us a heads up about stuff like layoffs. It just happens. How are we supposed to plan our lives? Keeping us clueless just makes everyone angry and scared.

Because there are no laws or regulations which require them to do so.
Um, they told you 2 years ago there would be 20k layoffs by EOY 2026. This is not news.
it actually just keeps me in survival mode. I hesitate to take out any loans such as a loan to buy a car since I dont even know if I will have a job in the next month to pay for the loan and car insurance
You are posting this under the assumption that they actually know what they are doing or actually have a plan. They have a bowl and inside that bowl they have pieces of paper with suggestions, thoughts and idea written down. Every day they draw from the bowl and do what the paper says. Sometimes its “make a sandwich” other’s its “lay people off” and other’s its “make shadow puppets”. After the 20th directionless re-org in less than 2 years, you should have picked up on that by now.
