Is the business account manager position worth it today?

false churn can be your friend especially with new customer incentives. Maybe someone on your sales team can help you with that

Comp is great. I don't even have to sell anything, just get my AVP to make a call to Fianance Director and twist some arms and we get everything even if we're making up stories. We party on their dime.
How is the new 2026 compensation plan for b2b? Would you guys say it’s equivalent to last years, more pay, or pays less commission? What would you all say the average quarterly commission payouts are for an average rep? 15k? What are quarterly commission payouts for a high performing rep? 25k???

had one id--t in Finance say that the payback for the device was longer than the contract and that Verizon wasn't making any money on the deal. I said, "so what"? and mentally knew that I'll make money on the deal which is the only thing that matters.

the other thing you've got to do is say that a quote for everything FREEEEE was seen by the customer and therefore, everything is FREEEEE. If you can't get the FREEEEE stuff from Finance to close the deal, just escalate it up your sales team as far as you can to get them to get it for you.
You actually never have to do anything, just escalte and get the close!
Not even close. Quota'd to not only retain customers but also find an exorbitant amount of new business. Have a 100 line account leave, your quota just became 200 for that month, and your funnel better be able to support a 200 line month or you will be on nonstop "prospecting calls" with people that have no clue how to sell but were put into roles because of who they know. All of this while you have hurdle after hurdle after hurdle with finance just trying to keep customers with us because we are no longer competitive. B2B used to be great, but I would argue that now it is one of the worst places in the enterprise.
Certainly worth it. Your real job is to get Finance to approve all phones at no cost to the customer and then pound the Finance teams for approval to offer unlimited everything for $15.00 per month. Remember to stay above Government pricing for success.
Other tactics to use - massive signing bonuses making the ROI on the deal almost worthless to Verizon.
Best of luck selling to Finance!
