Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Big round of tech layoffs today!

Don’t know the full scope but it appears to be pretty significant. Lots of senior folks included in the cuts.

The big secret is they haven't had performance based layoffs in years...they tried to say it was performance based back in 2023, but once they realized individuals were talking to the Seattle Times, they "generously" and very quickly retroactively offered severance.

They will cut anyone and everyone, no matter how long their tenure or contributions if it means protecting the craptastic senior leadership who are actually making the key decisions driving this shitpile further into the ground.

For what it's worth, there is very little reason to work there at this point. The pay is not competitive, bonuses haven't paid out in years, and the amazing company culture has been gone since 2019.

Doesn't appear like it was lean or agile or performance based. Just straight less budget so cutting many roles and abilities completely.

Two weeks per year of service. No notice period. PE firms be asking the same as public shareholders. Nordstrom was bound to get hurt with bad economy.
