Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Let the layoffs set the pace.

It’ll be hard as pressure will be applied under the guise of “meet the goal or else” but just put in 8 hours per day…..ONLY. Let the days of 50-60 hours per week be a thing in the past. Those of you who did work like that last year, what did you get out of it? No increase in comps, possible layoff and if you survive more work to pick up the slack.

Don’t do it out of anger or spite. Just let the layoff set the pace going forward. Clock in, work, go home. 8 hours only, no more, no less.

If you grind hard, you get let go.
If you do just enough to keep from getting fired, you still may be let go but its not quite as bitter as putting in tons of extra hours and then getting the axe.

Hustle culture often rewards the appearance of constant activity rather than genuine productivity, turning things like a green light on Teams into a symbol of dedication even when it has little to do with meaningful work. In environments where impact is harder to measure than visibility, being perpetually “online” becomes a performance—one that signals loyalty, busyness, and responsiveness, even if it undermines focus and efficiency. The result is a workplace where perception eclipses output, and people feel pressured to look engaged instead of being empowered to do their best, most thoughtful work.

Hundred percent I had to work 60 hours per week consecutively for four months due to attrition in my team. Do you think I got compensated for it ???absolutely not !!they owe me over 40 K in overtime when I did the math…. bonus was 1.2% raise 1.5% I worked for free!!! never again!!! eight hours is all they will ever get out of me going forward… they won’t get a second more out of me!!! Hate here. #hardtofindanewjob

I've been at Citi for 10 years. Rated 2s &1s throughout but I can count on one hand how many times I've worked after 5pm.

It isn't difficult. Just don't do it. We are not heart surgeons that need to finish everything right away.

Like literally, just log off and continue working tomorrow.

People in my team work late but we have the same work!
