We received an email today that said that 70 legacy Ansys employees would be laid off in France. Apparently everyone would be informed in April. Is it how it’s also going on in other countries?

The APAC region is facing a similar situation. At this time, we cannot disclose which country this occurred in. However, the company is clearly and repeatedly violating local labor laws.
@e5 the total number of Ansys employees in France is 620 not 500.
Synopsys is really a sc-m company , less salary , cost cutting and sh-t vision , sassine needs to spanked hard with a doner
@az This is the first round. In France, laying off a large number of employees requires the company to demonstrate economic hardship. That’s a difficult argument to make given Synopsys’ record profits, but throw enough money at good lawyers almost anything can be framed.
After that, they must negotiate the terms of the layoffs and who will be impacted, a process that typically takes several months.
FYI, on the synopsys side we received a similar email, 30 people (10%) will be laid off.

@az We heard that a few people were told to leave voluntarily. But it was minor and mostly posts we found on this site. This is the first major “official” layoff in France. However, it seems to be more than 10%.
@OP Did Ansys France already laid off any folks in the first round last November yet? Is this 70 people layoff the first or second round?
@a8 We haven’t been told yet who all will be impacted. The news will be delivered in April to the impacted employees. The company needs to do a consultation with the CSE (worker’s council) in between to determine the impacted employees. For now, we were only informed of the number of employees that’ll be impacted.
