Thread regarding Wayfair Inc. layoffs

I was completely blindsided

No warning, nothing. I was an excellent performer. Never trust the praise. Hard work doesn't pay off. They'll discard you at the first opportunity if it fits their bottom line.

Disheartening to see Lay-offs are still part of the Wayfair Culture. I was made redundant 3 years ago after 8 years with the company and I can tell you Wayfair was absolutely nothing it was when I first joined. By looking at these threads I can tell that the rot has continued and it goes right to the core.
Performance has never been a metric considered for redundancy (I received a CS award as was made redundant afterwards and colleagues who were also let go were at the top of their game). Each person/team has a $£€ associated with it and C-Suite says cut this figure. They need to cut this cost so the stock price goes up and the company stays afloat. It runs like clock-work each year.
My only advice for anyone going through this RIF, is that the grass IS greener on the other side and you will be shocked at what it's like to work for a good company that values you when you come out the other side of this. Disregard the turmoil of being let go as it will soon pass and you'll be better off in the long run.

The worst part of the layoff was the disgusting way that management handled it.

@bk I’m so sorry 😞 My heart aches for those who were affected. Even though we know things are rocky, it is still a complete shock when it happens. They did not offer those laid off a severance this time around?

I was too, I am at a loss. My metrics were always excellent, not sure what the reasoning was behind it. Im worried Im about to become homeless, I was not prepared for a total loss of income.
