Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

@2dq why because I call certain sr directors and other mindless VPs out? Don’t kid yourself none of them got their role on their own hard work or ideas their promotions come after constant begging and complaining yet they don’t execute a single project themselves. Go back to your cube now at sit there like. Good employee until 5 pm then rush out the door.

None of these so called are leaders they are a$$ kissing pros that have stolen ideas from others presented it as their own and managed to survive by presenting stolen ideas behind closed doors. Ask me how I know? I was a former VP who heard many of these ideas in meetings. Good luck leaders ;)

@OP You mean like the old man at the end of kick off who was lost and confused that kind of leader?

@yj It doesn't take much spilling. Folks have mentioned it on this forum about folks over 50 have been targeted. Remember that April 8, 2024 email to certain employees offering voluntary retirement? That spoke volumes. And don't think folks didn't save that email. And of course, they carefully chose words to avoid an age discrimination lawsuit. And that's the opinion of an outsider looking in.

@wz you must be a former leader. Darn you sound like you know insider information. Spill more please.

Let's quit it with the ageist rhetoric. Some good folks were let go because of age and longevity with the company. The problem is with the mindset at the C-suite levels. It's obvious they don't care about employees and relish in creating a stressful work environment and set folks up to fail. Interesting the survey results haven't been released. Gee, could it be there's discontent in the ranks? Don't worry, though. They cook the books to make it look like Sammy Sun is a great leader. Ba-f bag, please

Great selections. EF, I believe, leads the professional services organization, and MM now leads sales leadership—both are solid individuals, well respected. I've worked with both. EF, I see more of a generational leader - hopefully the future leader who can show some the path to leadership. However, the selections are limited, and as mentioned in the previous post. Study those leaders that people love.

The rare leaders remaining should be studied! We still have leaders who should not be in their positions. However, I do agree with the previous posts (MM and EF), and there are definitely a few others not mentioned. It's unfortunate that the selections are limited because the potential for continued growth is there, but with the wrong leadership at the helm, it can sink really fast.

My advice.... Study the leaders who are loved and respected! Pay attention to the HR surveys when they are posted and take action against those leaders who have failed their people!!

MM is a great leader, just not sure how long his endgame is. However, he’s the best person to reset the sales organization, so we are lucky to have him.

EF solid leader. He’s definitely a generational leader. He’s young, intelligent, and from what I hear from his people, an excellent leader. I also know he’s well-connected within Canon Inc. and well-respected. I’ve used him for some sales calls, and customers were super impressed.

MM had many ideas that were often shot down by PK. You can already see changes to the comp plan brought on by MM.

The only issue with MM is his age. Considering he is in his mid 60’s, one must wonder why they wouldn’t go with someone young to lead us into the future unless MM knows we don’t have a future and this could be the end in a year or two.

@OP My picks are for MM Sales - who has a big mountain to climb, but he's definitely a great leader and happy he's leading our sales organization.

Also, EF from professional services. I've worked with him on many deals. Extremely knowledgeable, and his team loves and respects him. He's also well respected within Canon and Canon Inc. I've heard this from many of my colleagues.

Being in sales is extremely stressful, so we need great leaders to help reduce those anxieties and help us push forward. We need strong leaders!
