Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

If business has been doing well, that still doesn't mean there won't be cuts

There's no limit to greed. We get the short end of the stick whether the business is booming or busting. Don't ever relax, especially in retail. Better to always be on the lookout for other options. You never know - you may come across a better opportunity. Yes, even in this bad economy. There's life after Macy's.

@b7 you sound like a fu--ing id--t. Maybe read a report every now and then. Macys achieved sales growth in all their comp doors which was the plan.

The new China Grove in NC is a super DC with A.I robots. That’s why the OK warehouse is closing.

The fulfilment center in Tulsa Oklahoma is a mass layoff. The fulfilment center will be closing this March 2026.

Business is not doing well. Where are you getting your info? Think before you post

Same negative comments from the same negative people. You can tell now by the repetition and use of the same phrases and words. Instead of being a keyboard warrior bashing the company you work for and hate so much, just quit and get a different job.

Macys has been looking really good in the press for several months now. If they do a mass layoff then that will put negative attention on them again and that’s the last thing they want. Comp stores achieved sales growth. They beat their sales plan as well. Backstage and Bloomies also the same. Sales are not declining. The plan was always to close underperforming doors and put the focus on better assortment and product in the stores they are keeping open that are performing.

I don’t quite get why people are saying it’s been good. Comp sales may be okay for top 50/150 stores, but overall sales are still declining due to store closures. Because of it, %SG&A (Selling, General, & Admin) to total sales has been increasing.
