I've been through many, many layoffs at Optum and seen many talented people let go. It's tough to watch, but I've also seen a clear pattern where a lot of those people ended up in much better positions elsewhere. They found roles with better pay, better culture, or just more respect. Just something to keep in mind.

Yes, I got laid off and found a new job 3 months later that pays 20% more per year, Monday Friday 8-5 working remote with much better culture, no stress, etc. I used to work 60-80 hours a week at Optum while being on call as well with no raises, bonuses, favoritism, extreme stress, etc. There is much better out there
@OP Depends on your age and if you want to cut your salary in half.
I've been applying to jobs since this time last year and have not been able to make much progress in this job market. Scared of getting laid off, but I get the feeling that moving to another position (whenever the stars align) won't grant me any more job security either.
@aa Job Change is still risky and, dunce, severance.
Which makes one wonder they these people didn't leave sooner? Just something to keep in mind.
