I was simply shocked when I saw who was put on PIP. How many of you were unfairly put on PIP?

Yes and my manager as very cruel. I'm on informal pre-pip now and even though I'm top seller on my team this month, I'm anticipating PIP on Monday/Tuesday after the holiday. I'm honestly ready to put in my notice so I can focus on a new job. Do they always offer two months to pivot (lay off vs pip?)
More PIPS = more people leaving = less severance pay.
