@m5 What a waste of $$$ on real estate. The Ellisons must not be very bright.

Day 1 RTO wasn't great. My train was delayed and then someone clogged up the toilet on our floor very badly.
@nc you’ve obviously never taken the subway before or you’d know how unsafe it can be. Not everyone lives in Manhattan.
Very long expensive commute. I was expecting a good lunch on our floor the first day so I could meet people I don’t work with. I work on different time zone assignments so being BTO is not ideal. I am missing important work on my commute and no one on my team is in my office. Meetings are late and I am getting home so late and waking up so early. This is not sustainable for this position.
@n8 you took a bus to a job…not walk through Fallaujah, grow up.
@bj I dunno, the app is by far the worst of all the streaming apps…maybe the streaming team should try something new.
Well first my day started off by getting on the wrong bus. It said Fare Required but didn’t display the bus number. Then I managed to get off and walk to the subway. Everyone was going thru the exit and getting in for free. I was the only dope that paid. The train wasn’t as packed as it used to be pre Covid. But the crazy man spitting on the train had me nervous. I wondered how he had a brand new Calvin Klein jacket. The tags were still on. I arrived at the 1515 location. No one seemed particularly happy. I was already exhausted from my morning ordeal but felt relieved I wasn’t ki-led on the way to the office. Imagine if that happened. I guess I’d finally have an excuse to wfh.
@my was given permanent exemption so won't be ...
These remote workers are a bunch of cry babies. Clean house…fire them all. They are replaceable.
@c5 maybe your boss should be fired because she is a remote worker. Everyone is replaceable.
@jc maybe try getting up and interacting
My favorite has been seeing one lone person in a giant conference room zooming with another lone person in a conference room across town
@kw That sounds so Collaborative(tm).
re the last comment - we have started only communicating on slack bc the zooms were all disrupting each other in the cubicles i am not even assigned near my team and we haven't seen our out of state boss .. he may like slack so it's not obvious an extension for him was given ...
my team is spreadout in a shared office but we still communicate on slack. what is the point of RTO?
The open concept makes it super hard to focus. unfortunately I’ve had a difficult time trying to get work done with the amount of chatter and distractions around me.
Productive for some based off poorly flushed tu-ds in the restroom.
Tons of socializing, zero work collaboration. 0/10 - do not recommend
It’s been lovely- I now commute two hours each way to be on the same zoom meetings I was a week ago.
reporting to my boss who is home on her couch with her dog and sitting in my cubicle zooming with people for communication ...
@bs you realize this is what it was like in 2019 too, except webex
@bs agreed. I’m in tech and 1515 broadway tech floors are split on two floors and everyone sits in their office all day with the doors closed on zoom meetings. No rooms to collaborate and no open space for side bar conversations. Cr-ppiest work environment for tech employees. So much for RTO and being a “tech forward” company.
The Water Tower Cafe is open like it was before 2020. I had the breakfast tacos, and it was actually pretty good!
Spent the entire two days on zoom calls with people in the same building because most of us are in back to backs and can’t travel 10 mins to another floor with the traffic and slow elevators. But they are gaslighting us with free snacks so that’s a win.
RTO days one and two have demonstrated that there is absolutely no operational need for streaming teams to be in the office. The floors remain largely silent, with meetings still conducted over Zoom (because Paramount is a global company) and limited open discussion, likely due to conversations being easily overheard in the shared space.
Great Call, David.
@a6 who? (Intl here)
@a6 Yeah, I agree with you on that.
