HR over multiple sites on call today and apparently there is a memo doing the rounds to management too. I am hearing something big coming in 2026

@19b This sounds promising.
Apparently some big transfer project is getting canned, I've heard. Looks like the Trump effect is having real world effects.
@17r That is the area that cut.
I too heard about this RIF today. A bunch of HR ladies were in a conference room and I could hear them whispering words like layoffs, cuts and Rifs.
PE's bread and butter method to enrich their shareholders. The rest of us will hold the bag.
Feel sad, but that’s a reality with Medtronic and a matter of time of if and not when
I recently joined a competitor this week after 10 years Medtronic and you can feel the difference when you walk in the first day
They need to get rid of GM otherwise I can see this company being split into three pieces or bought out soon
No RIFS! HR is planning 30% raises for all employees.
@n6 they tend to have some leniency as one they have a separate offshore agency they operate with and two they have someone assigned that they report to so it’s a different tier. The ones here running these multiple job schemes, are the ones this department is assigned to track and get them fired
Do you think that will stop them?
@m6 there’s literally not enough space for people doubt it is RTO lol
What about the Indians who are working in India?
"Indians hired by Indian managers"
Despite zero context from the OP, I believe it. I’ve been pulled from most projects and they aren’t denying that AI is replacing most aspects of my job.
@m6 The reason for this is simple. Some resources were identified working multiple jobs from home, the chronic ones happened to be Indians hired by Indian managers so everything was hush hush until their work was closely monitored and always pretending to make excuses such as having physical therapy so they can’t attend meetings etc
My bet for the new FY is RTO will be updated to 5 days. This will force people to quit and not having to give out severance.
@hf yes there has been ongoing discussions around it since rto was mandated. The new decision will imply for everyone that’s a remote worker to commute at least a few days a week or be fired. It will only be fair for all Minnesota workers commuting and hence others should too. The department I know is doing everything to make sure the board gets this approved on the agenda as it’s been a topic in discussion for a while now
I propose we all take a deep breath and think critically. The posters who say they “know” are providing almost zero info, only enough to get folks riled up. They don’t know any better than the rest of us.
Think about what you are in control of - do your job to the best of your ability, hold off spending on big ticket items and, for goodness sake, update your resume now.
WOW you think the non-RTO folks could be impacted? asking for a non complainant friend.
Can confirm CST
can confirm. Surgical
Major rif will happen come March April, the affected departments will vary and are broad unfortunately no specifics. What has been heard is that those that are quiet and barely talk during meetings or rarely chime in will be the target on the spreadsheet and those with large blocks on calendars as busy will be determined based on workload. So guys be prepared and always pretend you’re doing more even if not
Yawn. No rif
The Medtronic site in Hyderabad is fully operational. I won’t be surprised if this is true.
Need to RIFF HR and management layers
Do you have any proof or is this more fear mongering
I’ve heard about HR on call but nothing about a Memo?
Well that didn't take long to appear ... RIF RIF RIF .... fake news.
