Looks like some of the ongoing R&D projects have been descoped .This means its highly likely R&D associates will be significantly impacted
@1jp there's definitely going to be a phase 2. There's no way the levels that got to participate in VSP will equal the 2% they are looking for. there are 25k employees the CEO said. 2% is 500 people and only higher level ppl get to participate in VSP. That's not 500 people not even if everyone at those levels quit. The math doesn't add up. So just based off their numbers there is going to be involuntary layoffs it's hard to think otherwise. therefore, just expect the worse and hope for the best at this point

@jn Because if they know they are planning to retire soon anyway, they figure they don't need to give them a push. They're probably using this for people they want to get rid of, but don't have anything they can otherwise use to get them out. Like no restructure planned in the near future, don't want to go through the PIP process, nothing to fire them for cause.
Why wouldn't they first roll this out to people who could retire anyway? Instead it's just a swath of mid-level pay grades.
@e8 Is this phase 1 of a more extensive plan? Often VSP's are the first round.
5k people eligible, likely 10% impacted. 2wks salary per year of service, minimum of 12/16/20/26wks for grades 7-8/5-6/2-4/1. Prorated 2026 STI, 55+ benefit from LTI vesting. Alcon may reach 2% of 25k without force.
They said it is affecting multiple countries and that more information will be sent on the 6 or 7.

Any chance it is going by labor grade?
