"Declination of Notification Period" Form -- Has Anyone Attempted?

THEORETICAL SITUATION: You're in NJ and were given 90 days notice; however, you have another job lined up to start well before then. According to the "Mgmt Severance Program FAQ" doc:

"If you seek to separate from the company prior to the last day of employment date set forth in your Notification letter and still remain eligible for severance, you will need to complete and submit a valid Declination of Notification Period form, which would need to be approved by the appropriate parties at the company."

QUESTION: Has anyone attempted this or have any insight as to whether or not this request is likely to be approved/denied?

Thanks!

you shouldn't still be working full time if you are not off payroll until Feb, so you are still on payroll with Vz and can start another job. don't tell anyone and keep your vz computer until it is time to sign your agreement. But it sounds like that form gives you the option to leave early, which would be a benefit to Vz, and still allow you to get the severance so it sounds like that is the purpose of that form.

@bg how would they know that you already started a new job? I feel like you have the right to that severance package as a result of your termination. Why would they care if you find another job.

I thought I heard elsewhere that if you begin a new job before your notice period is complete, you forfeit your severance???? I would be careful with this because you definitely don’t want to lose your severance. I hope others can weigh in with insight.
