Macy's Closures for 2026

According to a source closely monitoring the Macy's footprint situation, 42 Stores (including furniture galleries) will be announced for closing on Thursday, January 8, 2026. These will close by end of March.

Moreover, 50 more stores will be remodeled in addition to the R125.

On a video made about 2 weeks ago, Tony Spring stated he is still fully committed to closing 150 stores and keeping about 350 stores open, which will be remodeled in order to maximize consumer experience.

@rq I heard a rumor about one of these opening in the Dublin, OH vicinity a long time ago. The mall’s a goner and the furniture gallery is in a very weird place in a strip center across the highway. Wouldn’t be surprised if it closes with the store

@rb What stores are on the list, then? You said most stores.

Wrong
Macys is being just as secretive as they’ve always been except for last year when they had to make a big show of it (it worked).
There is no longer a 150 store list. Closings will happen as needed, a few a year.

A smaller Macy’s (formerly Market by Macy’s) will open nearby closed full line stores. They are rapidly expanding the smaller Macy’s concept.

This last list is the closest i've seen so far. Most of the stores on this list are closing THIS YEAR. Along with another 10 or so full-line doors and 3 or 4 Furniture Galleries.

Buckland Hills in Manchester, CT is no longer on the closing list for 2026. We’ve heard from multiple people and the land sale hasn’t fully gone through yet. Definitely in 2027

@k8 unfortunately, they don’t update the website. Stores listed that are no longer in the mall: Forever 21, Claire’s, Bubbles, AVRS, Piercing Pagoda, Windsor. And I believe Zales and FYE are closing or have closed.

If your Store Manager gets a call about Inventory being canceled. That means your store is closing!

@jn If not, than 2027 is very likely. If 12-15 stores, including the Paramus Furniture Gallery, than 69 stores. It is either 12-15 or 42 stores.

@hv We will know in a few days. I checked the mall website and Tuttle Crossing still has a good mix of small tenants. There are many other malls in worse shape where Macy's is holding on to be the last one to turn off the lights.

@jp what are some other NN75 stores?

by

Post ID: @jv+1kdrtx158

50 Stores are being remodeled this spring (April/May), 25 Stores are being remodeled in the summer of 2026 (July/August). These are the NN75.

In NJ, Deptford, Rockaway, Freehold, Woodbridge, Paramus Park are part of NN75. Macy's is heavily invested in the NJ market (No Belk and Dillard's competition).

Tuttle Crossing is not on it.

@hx Tuttle Crossing had two Macy’s stores due to leasing agreements. One of them, a former Marshall Fields, did close in 2017. The former Lazarus is the one that is likely closing soon.

@hw If you are saying it could be pushed back to 2027 then it very well could be. In 2017 it was supposed to close but stayed open. The mall is half-open and it makes sense they want to get rid of stores not in the A or B market.

Mall at Tuttle Crossing I’m almost certain is a confirmed closure. Columbus’ market is saturated and the mall itself has not been properly maintained in at least five years.

@OP
This list is completely wrong. Forget the 150 closures number. That no longer exists AT ALL. There will be 12-15 this January. 12-15 next. There’s no 50 store remodel. It’s NN75, making an R200 for next year.

@e0 There is also a possibility for 12-15 closures, including the Paramus Park New Jersey Furniture Gallery, to leave 69 stores for 2027. That is what most people are confiding on this forum, however my source details the 42 stores for 2026 and 2027. 84 stores to close...

@dt I'm pretty sure it's mostly based on sales/relative performance in a region and future projections. The goal is to invest in the stores that continue to perform well, drop the ones that are declining and just maintain the others.

Unfortunately don't know about any other states. I would imagine top performing malls at any of the other states with only a couple/no stores listed in the 125 are also probably in NN75. Mall in Columbia in MD, Streets at South Point NC, etc. There are a number of glaring omissions in the list of malls.

@dq Would you know any others besides Virginia? I know that northen Virginia has an abundance of Macy's locations. Some stores outside of F200 are the remaining 150 stores that equate to 350, so I was just asking what criteria met with the NN75. Also, not all NN75 stores may be remodeled this year, it is at least 50 stores to 75 stores. I doubt Dulles would be on it because the list should have some retail growth in the shopping centers.

@dn top performing properties that aren't already part of the 125. Fairfax was confirmed in line for upgrades by an employee on Reddit last year. There's a chance Dulles could be on there too as they have good traffic from what I've heard but the mall is effectively dead retail wise.

The Richmond Short Pump, Fairfax, and Virginia Beach stores in VA are likely on the NN list.
