Thread regarding CVS layoffs

A final warning for anyone still here

If you're still at CVS, you should already be looking for an exit. It's not bouncing back. They will keep cutting until there's nothing left but a shell that can't operate. When it finally collapses, it will take everyone still here down with it. Get out before you're left with nothing.

If you are H1B two options for you.

  1. Join Xsell Resources Staffing. They will transfer your H1B and renew it for eligible 3-years then negotiate with the client company to sponsor for Green card, but there is a catch. Contingent worker has to pay $50K for the XSell.
  2. Keep your H1B, move to Canada. Apply for Work Permit and Remote into your company in US.

if you are on h1b visa it might be challenging to find a job if you are a non technical person.

I think the real answer to all this is what does Glenview Capital want? You see when Glenview requested a meeting with CVS, it's obvious they wanted a change in leadership, because they didn't like the direction things were heading. And being a large shareholder of CVS stock, they were looking out for their investment. But, in the deal they made with CVS, they got 4 seats on the board of directors. Now if you got one seat, you have representation, and a seat at the table. However, when you get four seats, you want a say in how things are run. And four seats on the board gives Glenview more than just representation, it gives them influence. Again this shows they wanted more than just a seat at the table. So to figure out what's really going on, I say ask what does Glenview Capital want?

@hq Any potential timeline for this sale or spinoff to occur? And if true what would this mean for the rest of the business, like retail, PBM, etc.

Aetna is going to be spun off or sold. They are trying to build and atomate their systems now.

The reason all this is happening is because of 1 thing: Corporate greed. When company profits and Wall Street shareholders are the ONLY thing that matters, corporate greed becomes the mechanism by which every decision by CVS is made.

The point of healthcare is to make people healthy, not make a corporation profitable. When healthcare was turned into a Wall Street business, that was the worst thing that could have happened. Companies like CVS and United Healthcare, and others took advantage of that and ran with it. Why? Because they saw $$$ dollar signs and a way to make boatloads of money, while pretending to care about your health.

Take away corporate greed and you might actually begin to fix things.

@er

There is no Aetna insurance left. They have very little in Medicaid,out of the ACA....commercial?
Medicare is dying with the boomers and UHC is better positioned as in Humana. Aetna Medicare is profitable because of Group contracts in the public sector, otherwise nope.

I'll take the carve out. I know some people who would LOVE to take it over. It's a small world, you know.

@OP there is no end because for retail and pharmacy the stores loose share to Walmart costco Amazon etc. Then they close more stores, which makes even less convenient for some, cycle repeats, doom loop death spiral.

Aetna Insurance business likely to be spun off as no synergies.

PBM universal villain will be nuked regardless of which politicians in charge

@OP Sadly I think you are right. CVS will keep cutting until nothing is left, because that's all they know how to do. I'm actually very surprised CVS hasn't made stores mirror hours with the pharmacy yet. I don't know what they're waiting for.

@OP
I dunno, there's plenty of outdated tech with a bunch of people who are clueless still at the helms.
