Is it true that the next big layoff will be in January?

Don't ask how I know... hiring has been postponed indefinitely with reqs frozen until later in H1 which isn't confirmed as of yet when in H1 and layoffs most likely will be happening early in the year.

If (and it’s a big if) there are RIFs coming it’ll be Jan/Feb next year, and as someone else has stated the decisions will already have been made (based on how it’s worked previous years). Simple fact is only a small number of people will know who, and the criteria, and they won’t be shouting about it here.

There’s been an unprecedented period of stability within the IT industry but RIFs used to be an occupational hazard simply due to the nature of the business and we’re now going through another period of transformation so it’s a hazard that’s re-emerging.

Best way to protect yourself is to keep evolving your skill set so that it’s relevant, or get into something so niche (but not expendable) and be a complete domain expert in it, so you’re always in demand.

But if this is something that is a real stress for you, I’d suggest getting out of the IT industry completely, you’re mental health will thank you for it.

What do you think? They will pick the top performers to lay off?

@3yzb+1kde5rJc are the list based on performance? Do they layoff the poor performers in january?

It’s sad to see. I was layed off almost two years ago. The lists were complied months in advance. It happens the last week of January, usually 25 - 27 Jan.

I totally expect layoffs early next year. What ticks me off is Betsy was flat out asked about that on the last all-hands, and if this turns out to be true, she totally lied!

Apparently spreading DEi everywhere, is more important than honesty.

Like santa 🎅, the list has been created and checked twice.

I have it on good authority that it will happen early in the new year.

I can't say anymore than this. Sorry.

In EUC All hands they said no layoff has been planned so far.

I am wondering what is the severance for these layoffs (if they are real). Maybe it is a good thing to go now instead of when the deal closes. Fewer people looking for jobs.

Don’t shoot the messenger - believe it or not your call but layoff happening Jan 2023 and lists are prepped and done. Doesn't matter if the deal closes or not.
