@bk Do your research. Start with the word: Gentrification, then drive through the Silicon Valley. You will see tech campuses surrounded by apartment complexes with luxury cars. Then will you know why H-1B visa's are important.

@28d gotta get as many spreadsheets done (by humans) as possible. Each human doing a spreadsheet and going to a meeting costs over $100,000/year for the company. In crises, automatic mouse movers, meaningless jargon and power point presentations are what keeps society afloat. #essentialofficeworkers

It's a 2+ yr period.

and

3x worse than any year prior.

Note that "year" is singular. 3X 27% gets you to 81% whether it takes one or three years.

Stick to plagiarizing nonsense like a good little Cisco employee and say "I heard they're going to lay off 10,000 people" or "I heard they're going to lay off 20,000 people." Both are always good for some up votes.

So you think Cisco will lay off 81% if it's staff in 2026?

The Great 2026 Layoff in tech yes.

Not a joke or a rumor.

3x worse than any year prior.

Finished by 2028.
Cue UBI

There is always a layoff at or after the end of the fiscal year. This one layoff a year is a standard practice for cisco.

additional layoffs only happen when a BU is exceptionally poorly run. if your BU is strong, you may see no or light layoffs.

in my experience, cisco only laid off twice a year across the board in fiscal 2024. i got caught in that one but i am not aware of this happening again

2026 will be more selective layoffs focusing on structure: team leads, managers (primarily project) and small numbers of VPs. BUT, as what should be on your calendar, AI bubble burst to occur 3rd quarter and layoffs from that will occur

Cisco needs to layoff Program Managers (mostly some VP's Indian house wife su-king public money?), that do nothing.. why do these tech companies need them. anyway. free money?

ELT knows SBG cannot be a segment leader anymore, the move to Bangalore will see the business move to professional services (I.e. throw warm bodies at custom solutions per-client). Eventually the Gartner "Magic Quadrant" board where Cisco is compared to Crowdstrike and Palo Alto Networks will be replaced by one where Cisco is compared to IBM and Infosys.

@bs : total debt in the US

The paragraph you quoted this from is in response to this text from OP:

If the economy turns around...

You can tell from the same paragraph you quoted from starting with:

You might want to spend some time thinking about what "the economy turns around" means...

has nothing to do with Bay Area IT companies like CSCO...

If the overall economy is the horse, CSCO and others are the cart. If the horse dies the cart stops moving the way you want.

You can read (apparently 18 people can't read) the second paragraph of the post you replied to to see Cisco specific issues relative to layoffs which is in response to the rest of OP's post. As has been asked here many times over many years about what Cisco can do to create significant sustained revenue and earnings growth, the answer has always been NOTHING. It's staggering that I don't need both thumbs to count the number of Cisco employees who understand the implications of that.

Revenues, profit, stock price don't matter to the ELT. The only tool they know to cut costs is LRs, and they're always trying to cut costs.

For people compensated largely in stock the stock price is the only thing that matters and everything else is a means to that end.

If Cisco became an AI corporation it doesn’t make any sense to keep it in the US. Give it to india, let them all move there and US should invest in an all American telecom startup to replace this bag of sh-t of a company.

So the lot of you think that giving away high profit margin work for legacy commodity work is a great business strategy.

You people really are the core of Cisco's "culture."

Move to Bangalore is happening regardless of stock price. Not just the rank-and-file but also management. Bangalore management will continue to purge all non-Bangalore headcount while liberals in the company still think racism is something white people do and no one else.

Cisco's stock is just another boat being raised by a high tide. When the tide recedes, it will likewise fall. Mostly no one will really care, Cisco is not an important tech company anymore.

Respectfully

H1B has a home to fall back on if they don’t find a job in the U.S. but if a U.S. citizen can’t find a job they are homeless. How the fu-k does that make sense?

Let us afford to live in our own country. Everyone coming over a greedy af.

First contractors come into group, learn the existing technology. Company layoffs take place to kick US employees out.

Whole project is outsourced to Asian country. USA employees are out on the curb looking for jobs. Look at many companies from Asia, they hire their own people here in USA and all jobs are taken over by foreigners!!

Top executives are rolling with money and launching all the way to the bank with the loot.

Facts are stubborn!!

total debt in the US
has nothing to do with Bay Area IT companies like CSCO doing layoff regularly for past 25 years right? because most of the layoff positions are quickly filled by their preferred people with better compensations.. I guess you might be an outsider investor looking in..

Nearly $106T in total debt in the US, over $5.6T spent each year (over 18% of GDP) on interest and over $1.8T in federal deficits for 2025. You might want to spend some time thinking about what "the economy turns around" means because the debt per citizen is quickly approaching $400,000.

As has been pointed out here many times, Cisco has severely under performed the market over the market for a quarter century. Even if the stock market goes up 100% next year (which is not "the economy") what has Cisco got that will create significant growth in revenue and earnings, because without those two Cisco has no need for more employees and a greater incentive to increase earnings through cost cutting measures such as layoffs.

Bay Area IT companies layoff regularly to replace people with their preferred ethnicity (via L1 visa Directors from Bangalore-Chennai/ H1B Sr Tech leads from Chennai etc) .. mostly by playing blame games to quickly replace existing population. The way tech is being run by the CEOs and CFOs is going to change forever. Voters will bring change. Corporate America has scammed all of us for years. They have lobbyists all over the world.

Only the top 10-15% are getting rich and rest are left to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. Voters want big change in hiring !

Cisco has been giving thousands of jobs to contractors in Asia and moving engineers on L1, H1-B, all different alphabets !!

Stop the scam and stop the continuous layoffs due to failed leadership at the top level. Many of you are CONDITIONED to think like them and make everything normal !!

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said Sunday that his government has worked “to restrict H-1B visas” because it believes it is wrong for companies “to bypass American labor just to go for cheaper options in the third world.”

May be cut the contractors and hire Americans. Enough of selling USA to Asian countries. Enough talent in USA.

Media dos not talk about the abuse of American employees and outsourcing of thousands of jobs. AI is not responsible for all the job losses. It is outsourcing and hiring non-us citizens.

All stupid governors, about 21 of them, are suing the administration for the $100k fees. They should be voted out in the next elections.
