Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Thank you Dell for laying me off

You know how they say “it’s a blessing in disguise”? That’s what a layoff at Dell is. It’s a blessing actually.
If you want actual work, growth, no-nonsense culture, it’s better to run away from Dell.
Recently I joined a new company after my layoff and I am so happy with my work now. I actually have some growth opportunity .

Can confirm. I was laid off a while back, I’m now in a company with room for growth, make more money, and the company itself is actually growing because they know how to innovate. Dell was always behind Lenovo on the end user side, milked VXrail till clients found better options or went to the cloud. Dell had a chance to really get ahead, now they’re scrounging for ways to stay relevant. I feel for anyone still there, have heard stories from previous coworkers that are either on edge from constant layoffs, in the process looking for a new job or starting a new one in a few weeks. Figure it out Dell, you were so awesome to work for back in the day. I was proud to work there, now I try to not mention I worked there.

I will say that a lot of of my skills really stagnated at Dell because we were always doing the bare minimum. I’ve learned more new stuff in six months at my new job than I did during my entire four years here.

Of course, the pay isn’t as good. But I am a lot happier now just waking up in the morning.

Same, worse decision I ever made and best outcome.

Congrats! Glad to hear another Dell "refugee" getting back on their feet.

Same experience here. Laid off, took a few months off, now have a better, more interesting job in a better industry for me (where frankly I'm more useful than at Dell anyhow) in a role with dramatically more upward mobility than Dell.

I don't miss Dell or any of my old coworkers from there at all.
