2026 will be a critical year for the global market, with the reason being another strong wave of new projects. Most recent data shows a net capacity increase close to 5% in 2026, versus 2025. With China starting up around 25 new plants this year.

US polyethylene output was impacted in 2025. US producers will still enjoy cost advantages but will likely suffer again this year.

In the near term, Dow will see lower results as oversupply weighs on prices, while weak demand reduces volumes. We expect these bottom of the cycle conditions to persist in 2025 and 2026. That said, over the long term, as demand normalizes, Dow is well positioned for a strong recovery and everyone will be rich, fat and sassy.

@1h0 Dow needs to stop promoting from within when it comes to top leadership. The company is so corrupt. There are several internal audits being done for what appears gross overpayments and what appear to be blatant fraud. The company belongs in the gutter they are in if they continue to allow these people to run it

Yes. The commodity ethylene, propylene and related plastics businesses will get hit by Chinese and Middle Eastern competition. Over next 5 years it will get uglier.

@f8 nope BCG will only find the lower level overlap and cut those. Then probably tell Dow to send the remaining job to Latin America or India.

Dow has had many rounds of layoffs, but every time the small guy seems to pay.

Ineffective leaders seem to survive every single time. Leaders with shocking results, but because they support some ERG initiative, they are untouchable.

Will BCG change that?

Most definitely! BCG is working hard to find role overlap so people can be identified to be let go. It's about time the useless individuals in Dow Logistics, mainly road operations, get whacked. That group is the most incompetent and toxic group at the entire company. There is a position to manage a 3pl. Who the heck needs to hire someone to manage the people who are paid to manage freight. She needs to go. She's a terrible person and everything wrong with Dow culture.
