Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Return to office, does HR check the log or badge swap?

My manager believes to follow the company direction (3 times per a week) and my team is forced to go while all other people I work with still work from home 100 percent.

Office is always empty and there are just a few teams I know comply with return to office directive.

Last layoff had nothing to do with it either. Nobody who still works from home got impacted

I am in DFW. Is your office empty too?

@ca I don't know what you made you think AD was notified just last minute. I am very positive it varies per organization as AD knew here and the list was loaded to the chain from AD.

@an were they homebased?...the people who still work from home are hybrid on the paper but still work from home 100 percent disregarding the RTO

@an just because people in your team were remote and rif'd does not mean remote was a criteria. Stop acting like you were in the know bc ADs weren't notified until the same time and everyone under ADs

For what it's worth, everyone rif'd in MY org was in BR and everyone else is remote. Stop spreading fear mongering rumors

@an it doesn't matter or we would all be removed in the last 30 years of cuts. Nice try, again

Absolutely incorrect. WFH was definitely or remote was definitely used as a criteria. AD here. 2/3 people that got impacted on the team were both remote. No office close by. It might not matter for promotabity but definitely matters for RIF criteria when they are looking for a reason

It's true that Dan said that on his all hands, but shortly after, Sam Hammock had her all hands and said there are no plans to change the direction, completely contradicting what Dan said in his all hands.

I’m curious to see if they change the policy to 5 days a week to encourage attrition

No one is checking badge swipes

@a5 has this been stated in writing, as to Schulman's change to WFH and promotability, rescinding the prior CEO's short-sighted view of how to be a successful corporation??

Seeing how the company has poorly they’ve executed anything internally over recent months, it’s all bark and no bite. Even the premise they sold us on RTO was goofy. If employees wanted to be back in office, it wouldn’t be so damn empty still. There was a spike in attendance initially but it’s trailed off. I doubt the new year will be much better.

Plus, Dan essentially clapped back at HR on the guideline that you can’t be promoted unless you live at a hub, and told them was a stupid new policy.

Those manager - director - VPs who are concerned on forcing the 3 days are weak leaders

@a2 I figured they would require 4 days RTO starting in Jan.

Boss gave a heads up that 4 days will be required starting in Q2.

My boss doesn’t care; she treats us like adults. I’ll continue to go in when necessary and not a day more.
