This thread is for info about potential Uion Pacific layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

Why does this same topic show up at the same time every year, with the same d-mb "Uion" misspelling?
@nr up paid the money to be in the club. So there for they can do just about anything. That ballroom didn’t pay for itself. Public information look at the doners
No they'll get rid of us by firing us for the smallest of mistakes, the same ones they make when they're on the tracks.
They are trying to keep it quiet right now because they don't want any pushback from the STB. After the approval, they will yank the rug out from under people.
I really don't understand why some people are getting excited about all of this. The number one thing to remember about merger is that it hasn't been approved yet. There's going to be a billion questions that'll have to be answered by the UP elites before it gets approved anyways. You have regulators already speaking against the merger and other railroads along with many shippers that are not for the merger.yes, I do see many more layoffs occurring if the merger is approved and that is pretty much a given with Vena in charge because thats all he knows how to do. If he knew what he was doing now, then the UP wouldn't be the hot mess that it is. There's alot of things like that have to be considered before the merger is approved, so let's calm down just a little bit.
Agree on comment said about Chicago and all NS, UP connecting routes

Keep in mind the article is certainly sugar coated because you do want to minimize negative publicity to the public and government to ensure merger approval, but also to note that there are some changes that WILL need to be made. Here lays the problem, if it was published, you can darn well be certain it will come heavier than said, AND there is always the flexibility any corporation has to lay off/furlough/downsize if you have a economic slowdown, whether they use it as an excuse or not.
If you are in Chicago area UP or NS you might want to start trying to medical out or look for a new job.
