When layoffs are over, the sense of finality never lasts. Every single time a round ends, it already feels like the next one is loading. Sadly, we’re by now used to it and we’re just going with the flow. Nobody complains, nobody does anything. They pulled a “frog in a boiling water” on us and made this our new reality with no blowback.

Every new hire I know at HQ this year is hoping to get to a year without layoffs (to avoid red flags when applying) and then start looking again.
When every team is constantly new people, there is zero expertise and our customers know and feel it.
I don’t know about you but I’ve been looking for another job most of 2025. That’s what I’m doing about it. I’ve let my productivity slip and am no longer exceeding expectations like I have the past 8 years. I’ve been rewarded with 1.5% raises and cuts to bravo, bonuses, team outings, and now 401k. Most of my team has been offshored with people who can barely pass as engineers. This place is a dump and it only gets worse. Hard work is not rewarded and it’s time to leave.
My advice, break out of this cycle and go get a new job. It’s tough in the market but you have to be persistent and intentional and eventually you’ll find something. Good luck.
I think this is a sad reflection of today’s world at large. Widespread uncertainty, volatility, and unprecedented pace of change. This is not political, but as an example. People considered government jobs to be save. We all witnessed what happened. The notion of “too big to fail” is a fallacy because a visionless, incompetent, and reactive leadership can easily run it into the ground. This is the point of “it is what it is.” Hope for the best prepare for the worst.
I've worked for over a decade and it has always been like this. What can we do other than leave and work for a different company that may do the same thing or who knows? I work because I need a job and will ride this one out until it ends or I find something better.
